Darla is an experienced Executive Assistant at Vermilion, where she partners with senior leaders to enhance team effectiveness and drive results through strong collaboration and proactive problem-solving.
With more than 30 years of administrative experience—including nearly two decades at Cargill—Darla brings deep expertise and a strategic mindset to her role. She joined Mortenson as part of the Vermilion team and is known as a trusted business partner who delivers with precision and focus. She currently supports Tom Costello, Justin Hess, Vikram Narain, and Ted Willems.
Beyond her role at Vermilion, Darla serves as Secretary on the Executive Board of It’s Not Just Dinner (INJD), contributing to leadership development and community-focused initiatives. She is also a Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) through the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).
Darla is passionate about giving back and actively mentors and coaches administrative professionals. She leads key initiatives including BestPrep Career Day (2009–2026) and the Cargill Blood Drive (2007–2026). She also served on the Cargill Headquarters Care Council (2024–2026), demonstrating her strong commitment to service and community impact. In May 2017, Darla received the BestPrep Volunteer Service Award in recognition of her outstanding dedication to BestPrep and her meaningful contributions to the education of Minnesota students.
Outside of work, Darla enjoys time with her husband, Todd, their four adult children, and five grandchildren.
